WHAT IS DEER RECOVERY BY DRONE?
We fly one of our three top-of-the-line thermal drones over the area where you shot your deer and conduct a systematic grid search from the air. Thermal imaging detects the heat signature of your animal, even in total darkness, and without a single drop of blood on the ground.
When your deer is located and confirmed deceased, we drop a precise digital waypoint on our map and hand you the exact GPS coordinates. You walk straight to your animal. No wandering. No second-guessing.
Per Wisconsin law, Bad Axe Drones pilots can only locate your deer. We cannot legally assist with the physical retrieval of the animal.

WHY THERMAL BEATS TRACKING ON FOOT
Shot a deer and can't find it? Don't risk bumping it off the property by walking in the dark. We fly thermal drones over your search area to locate your animal from above, no blood trail needed. When we find your deer, we drop a precise GPS waypoint and hand the coordinates straight to you.
Won't bump your deer
A group of people walking through the woods at night risks pushing a still-alive, wounded deer further away — possibly off the property entirely. A drone in the air disturbs nothing.
No blood trail needed
Rain, wet leaves, and rough terrain can wash away or hide blood within minutes. Thermal imaging sees heat — not tracks — so weather doesn't slow us down.
Built for the Driftless
The steep hills and dense valleys of Central Wisconsin make foot searches brutal and slow. A drone covers the same ground in a fraction of the time from above.
Night is our best time
The sun heats the ground during the day, which can muddy thermal readings. After dark, thermal signatures are crisp and clear.

IS IT LEGAL AND SAFE?
Yes to both. Drone deer recovery is legal in Wisconsin, and we take compliance seriously. Unlike some competitors, we understand that Wisconsin has stricter regulations than other states and we follow every one of them.
If your deer is found alive during our search, we cannot provide its location. You will need to contact your local Wisconsin DNR for guidance on next steps.
